More Studio pictures!

Time to share more pictures of my wonderful studio! Here is my collection of ribbons, I was lucky to get this ribbon cabinet from a friend, I just love how I can stand there and choose what colour suits my card! In the large cupboard i have quite a few large clear containers that house my rub-ons, stickers, alphabets stickers, paper embellishment, all stacked and labelled for easy access!
This area is in my laundry, behind the wooden stamp shelves. The shelves have all my paints, embossing powders, re-inkers, mediums etc. Hanging up are my screens and masks, as I have said before I am a visual person and I like to see things otherwise I would forget! It may look like a mess but I know where everything is.
I use this gorgeous rusty tin to store all my Washi tapes, this picture must be a few months old as it's over flowing now LOL! I do love Washi tapes!
These are my acrylic stamps, I have them sorted into themes in baskets so I can flick through them! I don't think I have many punches as I have seen a few of my friends collections!!
This is my office area, I don't sit here much LOL. The shelves are filled with some of my favourite things that friends have made for me or items I have created. I also have my most treasured item on one of the shelves, just below the little clown my Dad gave me, it's a display piece that Tim Holtz made and I had won it at a charity auction!! I can't tell you how excited I was to win it and I soooo treasure it!!
Well that's about it, I'm still adding pieces and there are always more pictures to show you, one day soon maybe. I don't want you to get too jealous!! Now remember I did start out with a shoebox many, many years ago filled with items to create my cards with, I would get that out and create at my dining table and pack it all up again, so I do know how spoilt I am :-) Thank you for looking, maybe you can join me one day in my studio and create with me?? Happy Stamping!

My Studio!

I thought it's about time I showed off my studio on my blog! It's our double garage that I have converted to a creative studio, I'm sooo lucky to have it but it's also my job so it's great I can escape and create!! I have a passion for all things old as you can see and I'm really pleased in how it turned out! Most items are family heirlooms but some like the old typewriter I managed to pick up at a local junk yard for $30!! So this is what you see when you first walk in, I have covered the garage roller doors with long pieces of calico fabric that have been sewn together then I made a doily banner to hang at the top, I just love, love, love doilies and I'm very fortune that I have wonderful family and friend who feed my addiction!!
I purchased this old dilapidated screen door from the local junkyard as well, The peeled paint and tattered fly screen makes my heart happy!! I hung it up and use it to display all my pretties! The wicked baskets are filled with delighful chipboard pieces, 6x6 paper pads and flowers. You can just see underneath them are my shelves for all my A4 cardstock!
These are my work tables where I create, have friends over for craft days and where I teach. The chairs are padded and I have plenty of daylight globes which is wonderful! Sometimes these table are literally covered and nearly over flowing with just my mess!!
Okay this is my wooden stamp area and my work bench where I do most of my messy work, I seem to prefer to stand up when doing these things! I'm a visual person so I like to see my stamps and they look sooo pretty! Yes there are two rows of them on each shelf but I have been creating for 15 years now!
This picture show what I called my smorgesborg area, I have vintage glass bowls filled with resin pieces, cameos, Tim's Holtz bits and pieces, vintage jewelery etc, sometimes I just stand there and look and smile!! Love it!!
Okay that's just a taste, I will do another post with some more pictures soon!! I did say I'm a very lucky girl he he. Happy Stamping!! Jane

Quick Christmas cards

Okay, what do you do if you need Christmas cards in a hurry? You pull out your stash of already created backgrounds!! I have an overflowing box of UFO's and most are these wonderful backgrounds that I have created when I've been doing demos for classes and for my feature in 'Cardmaking, Stamping & papercraft called 'The Classroom'. These have been lying around for ages and finally I have a use for them! I trimmed them down, layered them on my cards front, added a Stampin' Up! (discontinued, sorry) stamped image on top and a bow, viola!! I got ten cards made in half an hour, mind you I have about 100 more to make!
At least they look like I have taken a little longer than 3 minutes each! Have a great Christmas and a safe and happy New Year! Happy Stamping! Jane

Two cards to share!

Hi everyone, here are two cards I had on display at the Penrith Papercraft Festival a few weeks ago. I created them using wonderful products from my fabulous and generous sponsors - ScrapMatts, Flourish with a Bling, Whimsy Farm Twine and Manor House Creations. This first card I roughly painted a ScrapMatts ornate frame #3 with white acrylic paint to give a distress look then I inked the 'Memories' word from Assorted words #10 pack with Distress Ink frayed burlap, layered it on Manor House Creations - Scrapcake Sweet Childhood papers then added Jubilee coronation cream and Winter Song Ice crystal flowers in the bottom left-hand corner. I used Bella twine for the rope on the kite then added Flourish with a Bling tiny pearls along the scalloped border at the bottom and to the kite!
This card I simply ink the lighthouse from the ScrapMatts Nautical Designs #1 pack and the word 'Inspire' from the Assorted Words #10 pack with VersaMagic Aegean blue ink, placed them on My Minds Eye 6x6 papers along with one of my favourite products from Flourish with a Bling a Jasmine fluffy flourish white as it looks cool with the lighthouise and has a soft sparkly effect on it. I tied Jemima twine around the bottom to add colour then added a bow of green seam binding and a charm from my stash. Now which of my brothers am I going to give this too?? Hmmmmm? Nah I might just keep it LOL
Well I hope you like them, I will be back in the next couple of days to share the cards I was teaching!! Cheers and Happy stamping, Jane

I'm back and with a card to share!

Hi everyone, Well I really don't know where to begin, only to tell you that this year so far has had many ups and downs, but I am a much stronger person because of all of these things. I won't go into detail about them but I will share one devastating blow to my life, my wonderful Dad passed away, he was diagnosed with Bowel cancer and three weeks later he was gone. I did get to spend some wonderful time with him before he left us, this I will treasure forever. Make sure you tell those dear to your heart that you love them. Right..... on to a creation!! Here is a card I made for my God daughter Sarah, her birthday is the same day as mine, I'm late in sending it but I hope she'll like it anyway. It's using a Sugar Nellie stamp. A contributor for our magazine 'Edna Morrisedie' made a beautiful set of cards using this image and they inspired me! I haven't played with my Copics for such a long time and I really enjoyed the relaxation that colouring gives. I was pleased how it turned out, even if I say so myself he he.
Short and sweet for now, at least you all know I'm still in the land of the living. More cards and sneak peek of my classes coming up soon. Cheers and happy stamping! Jane

Congratulations Card

Hi everyone, Don't you just love it when hubby asks you to make a special card for a work college and you ask when would you like that? Oh tomorrow would be nice!! Arrr.... okay darling!! Geez if only I could whip up a card in 10 minutes (that's how long he thinks it takes) LOL. Anyway this is the card I managed to create in about an hour, I had lovely Prima products sitting on my craft desk (thanks Sherry) that I had left-over from cards I had previously made, so I grabbed a few things and played!! I hope you like it and so does the recipient, my hubby thanked me and was happily unaware of all the fuss!
Maybe I should ask if there are any other special request coming up so I can get a heads up! Happy creating! Jane

Darkroom Door set of cards

Hi everyone, I was very fortunate and honored to be asked by the owners of Darkroom Door to be the guest designer for February. I had so much fun creating all the cards, I especially enjoyed creating the aquarium scene using the accordion book with the tin box, I would change a few things looking at it now, but otherwise I'm still very happy with how it turned out. Here is the link to check out my creations! Darkroom Door Blog I also made a set of cards with Darkroom Door seaside filmstrips and wordstrips for 'Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft' Vol 18 No 2 on sale now!! Here is a link for that, CraftLovers. I created the background using embossing powders, foil and gauze, you will have to buy the mag for the instructions he he.
Thank you once again Darkroom Door, I loved using your stamps and creating with them, I have quite a collection now and of course you have just released more and I spotted a doily set!!! Off I go and shop!! Thanks for looking Cheers and happy stamping Jane

Closing shop and creating a studio!

Hi everyone,

As many of you may know I have closed my shop, small as it was I just couldn't manage that, my job at the magazine and the many classes I teach elsewhere. It was a hard decision but one that had to be made, I will cherish the many friendships that came about from having the shop and I know I will keep in touch with all the ladies!!

I have just started redecorating the double garage to make way for my Creative Studio!! YAY!! A place just for me to create, play and enjoy!!

This is a photo of a morning tea I had a few months ago, just to give you an idea of colours and interior of the shop! The ladies present are (starting from the left) Robby, Jo, Bev, Lenore and Julie.

I do hope my studio will still be a place of fun and lots of get togethers with craft minded people, I'm sure it will!!

Will keep you updated, back to the painting for me!!

Cheers

A card to share

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

I thought I would share a quick post with a card I made late last year using Glimmer Mists, puff paints and chipboard (brand unknown sorry), I hope you like it.
I sprayed the chipboard rainbow pieces with a selection of Glimmer Mists then glue them back together again. I cleared embossed over the top of it for a lovely shiny coat. I applied white puff paint to the clouds, let them dry then sprayed a grey Glimmer Mist on them. The cloud background was created by placing cloud chipboard pieces on my card then I applied a light coating of blue mist over them. The rub-on words are old Making Memories brand and I finished the sentiment with alphabet stickers.

Thank you for looking!
