Closing shop and creating a studio!

Hi everyone,

As many of you may know I have closed my shop, small as it was I just couldn't manage that, my job at the magazine and the many classes I teach elsewhere. It was a hard decision but one that had to be made, I will cherish the many friendships that came about from having the shop and I know I will keep in touch with all the ladies!!

I have just started redecorating the double garage to make way for my Creative Studio!! YAY!! A place just for me to create, play and enjoy!!

This is a photo of a morning tea I had a few months ago, just to give you an idea of colours and interior of the shop! The ladies present are (starting from the left) Robby, Jo, Bev, Lenore and Julie.

I do hope my studio will still be a place of fun and lots of get togethers with craft minded people, I'm sure it will!!

Will keep you updated, back to the painting for me!!

My first DT cards for Pages2Scrap

A card to share

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

I thought I would share a quick post with a card I made late last year using Glimmer Mists, puff paints and chipboard (brand unknown sorry), I hope you like it.
I sprayed the chipboard rainbow pieces with a selection of Glimmer Mists then glue them back together again. I cleared embossed over the top of it for a lovely shiny coat. I applied white puff paint to the clouds, let them dry then sprayed a grey Glimmer Mist on them. The cloud background was created by placing cloud chipboard pieces on my card then I applied a light coating of blue mist over them. The rub-on words are old Making Memories brand and I finished the sentiment with alphabet stickers.

Christmas Gifts to try!

Hi everyone

Yep...Christmas is just around the corner, YIKES!! how did that happen??! I am soooo not ready, looks like I'll be running around at the last minute in a state of frenzy once again!! Seriously though...I don't think I have EVER been this far behind, at least half of my family will be getting presents, but the rest.... well lets just say I had better buy lots of wine and lollies to make these gifts on Christmas eve he he.

This is a class I recently taught, you never know it may help you out as well for a last minute pressie.

The gift wine bottle is very easy to do. One handy hint is the have your bottle of wine/sauce/bubble bath in front of you so you can adjust the height and width.
I used cream card measuring 12x12in, scored vertically at 50mm intervals, measured 50mm down from the top and scored this horizontally, I cut triangles out of the top square sections then punch 1/4in holes in the tips. Scored 40mm up from the bottom then cut along the vertically folds for tabs, secured the tabs together to make a base (I also taped it to more cream card and cut around it(looks neater and adds more strength to the base). I decorate the bottom with 2in tree border from green paper using my Cricut machine and the Winter Frolic cartridge, the Santa is cut from K&Company Very Merry Santa paper (already has glitter on it) the wavy snow is hand cut from white paper, then I wrapped sheer ribbon and a punch strip of green paper. I threaded sheer ribbon through the holes that I had punched at the top, pulled them together and tied it in a bow, the tags are cut from the same cartridge as well.

I'm so happy! I have been playing with my Cricut Expressions machine a lot lately, it's been sitting there for over a year!!

The bag is very simple to do as well, it's just a 4 x 12in strip of cream card, folded with a folded 15mm tab at the top, a bag of lollies was inserted inside it then holes were punched through the top and ribbon tied through it. I decorated the bag with 4in trees cut using the same cartridge as the bottle gift and same papers and punch.

Update at last!!

Hi everyone

At last an update!! Lots has been happening and I have lots to share too!!

Here are two cards from techniques classes that I have recently taught.

This is a close up of my Faux Rusty Enamel Technique that I taught at Camp Mojo (Scrapbooking retreat) in June and at Stampabit. I love teaching this one as everyone's piece turns out differently and they ALL look just like rust!

This is one of the class card. Products used: Flourish with a Bling Jasmine white florish, Scrapware cogs and Green Tara flowers, the cuttlebug plate was clockworks.

Class this Saturday 10th September

Hi everyone,

The class I will be teaching this Saturday at 11am at Stampabit Quakers Hill will have you creating two beautiful cards, all materials are supplied. Discover how to create this gorgeous background using a Cuttlebug embossing plate, gesso paint, distress inks and clear embossing powder. It's easy and it's fun!! A few cards to share

Hi everyone, yes it's been a while, sorry about that, life has just been busy. Here are three cards I wanted to share with you.

First one was for my niece Sophie's 10th birthday. I used Copic markers to match the paper.

This card was made for my Goddaughter Sarah, we share the same day but just a few (many) years apart LOL, how special is that!!

This last card was for a class I taught (I've already given the other one away) I was given a hang punch to work with and this was one of the cards. The punch is so cool, it has tabs at the top that you fold over and secure around the string!

Scrapbook & Papercraft Convention

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share some pictures from the Scrapbook & Papercraft convention in Brisbane. It was a fantastic weekend, I taught two classes for Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft and Scrapbooking Memories magazines. All the classes sold out!! I was so excited about that, they were such fantastic kits, thanks to my sponsors!!

Here is a picture of my Tutor display area. Trying to fill such a large wall with small cards is an enormous task, so this year I decided to have long strips of calico with huge bows at the top, I thought it turned out okay :-)

This is the beautiful kit sponsored by Kay's Company, GCD Studios which included a gorgeous 8x8in paper pad designed by Donna Salazar. We made five quick cards and there was so much left over to make a hundred more!

Here is a picture of the five cards, The aim of this class was to show my attendees how to make their own embellishments. You know when you make up a card and you haven't got the right ribbon or flower, well I got the chance to show these ladies that there is no more stressing, and how easy it is to just create your own to match perfectly!!

This picture shows the Stampin' Up! class goodies bag, it was jammed packed with yummy products, over $180 in value!!! The ladies were so happy, it brings a smile to my face just thinking of it.

Here are the two cards they made. I taught them a simple gesso technique that makes that stunning distress look, easy and very achievable whatever level of cardmaker you are.

I always love this show as it gives me the opportunity to catch up with wonderful friends and to make some new ones. I would love to thank my sponsors for your kindness, generosity and giving me the chance to teach with your wonderful products :-)

The Rubber Cafe stamps

Hi everyone,

Long gap since last post I know but life has been busy, in great ways of course!!

When i was at CHA in January I met the lovely Candy Rosenberg and I was very lucky in that Candy gave me a set of her yummy stamps that she had just released YAY!! This was my first CHA experience and the generosity of everyone was outstanding.

Here's a card I made using the stamps and a picture of the stamp sets as well. You can purchase the stamps at The Rubber Cafe, check out all the other designs.

I stamped the bodice stand on blue patterned paper then coated the image with Mod Podge, I then layered an old dressmaking pattern on top to add texture. The wings were stamped on an old text book. Papers used are Prima Madeline collection.

Well I'll be adding these stamps to my favourites. Thank you Candy for making my introduction to my first CHA a wonderful one XX

Teaching Quilling

Meeting Lisa Kettell

Lisa Kettell is one of the talented ladies I met at CHA. Lisa has her own book called 'Altered Art Circus' which I bought and absolutely love!! Plus I had it signed for me he he. Lisa was lovely and sharing of her talent, showing us a very simple way to create a rosette/badge from her vintage crepe paper (see I do remember Lisa lol). I was very fortunate in that she gave me some of her own designs of images and papers. This is a card I made from them, hope you like it.

I can't sleep so what better way to spend my time than to do a post on my blog lol, so here are some of the lovely people I met at CHA

The gorgeous Diane and Aimee from Graphic 45, they are the sweetest ladies you'll ever met and I just love, love, love their designs.

This is the talented Claudine Hellmuth, I admire her work greatly!

This is Lisa Pace, I purchase her book probably a year ago and have found it so inspirational when my mojo is lost. I can't wait until the next one comes out in January 2012.

I also got to met the talented Jennifer McGuire, I so adore her work too!

It was like a dream meeting all these talented people that I have admired for so long.

Okay I'm off to bed and hopefully I'll get some sleep this time.

My highlight of CHA Winter 2011

Hi everyone,

Well I decided to go to CHA in Los Angeles US at the very last minute thanks to some very heavy persuasion from my friends!! I have always wanted to go but always made excuses and said maybe next year or we haven't got enough money etc, but a friend said to me 'life is too short, just do it!' so I did!! LOL. I had an absolute ball, but the most wonderful thing for me was having a dream came true. I got to meet my idol of the cardmaking world 'Tim Holtz'. I know I sound like a teenager but I was over the moon with excitement meeting him, my friends will validate this he he. I had decided to take one of my magazines that featured my classroom feature using his Grungeboard product, teasingly I said I could sign it for him (tongue in cheek!). He was looking through the mag and said 'how cool' I was just blown away but wait... he then handed me his pen and asked me to sign it for real!! OMG!! Pick me up from the floor would you please? LOL. Anyway that was my highlight and I'm soooo happy! Here are some pictures of the special occasion in my life.

I got to meet so many talented people, I will share more posts, it may bore you to tears but for me it was an experience of a lifetime and I'm so happy I took the time and did it!!

Rusty 'Junk Art'

Hi everyone,

As I mentioned before... I'm really into rusty things at the moment, love, love, love the textures and colours. Last week I went to the 'JunkYard' in Windsor NSW, this is an amazing place filled with everything imaginable - sinks, chairs, train carriages, old books etc. I came across this rusty cupcake tin and an idea popped into my head he he, I can fill it with all my favourite bits of jewellery, little doiles and pictures then fill each compartment with resin, well that same day I did it, Sherry Mendoza helped me with the resin as I haven't used it before and also made her own wonderful creation! Here are some pictures of the final piece, I must say I was very pleased how it turned out, even if I say so myself he he.

I have decided to donate this piece to an Auction for the victims of the devastating floods in Queensland, this auction Your Creative Journey Silent Auction for QLD Flood Victims it can be found on FaceBook, you're very welcome to bid or watch if you have a Facebook page. Fantastic work has been donated by many amazing artists and at the moment the organisers - Sherry Mendoza and Tracey Shenton have raised over $4000, WOW what a great effort and well done ladies!

Hi everyone,

I've decided to join this fantastic site Balzer Designs to help me keep a diary of my thoughts, techniques and inspiration (hopefully). I've been working on a special project for darkroom door for the last few days, the cardstock I was using as my mat left such a lovely creative mess that I decided to cover my journal with it, you know....if I had tried to create something like that it would not have worked out!!

I'm using a 6in x 8in watercolour paper book, so it should stand up to the many techniques that I have in mind.

So are you wondering what my darkroom door project looks like? well you'll have to wait for that he he, sorry, I will let you know :-)

Rusty Nests

Hi everyone,

Last Monday I had a wonderful creative day with my best friend Kim whom I've know for the last 31 years, YIKES that's right! We started our cardmaking together many years ago and still love getting together and creating. We don't get a chance to do this much now as Kim is always moving, at the moment she lives in Wodonga Vic. We both share a passion for birds and all things old, it's funny how we can be so many miles apart but our tastes are always in sync!

These are our rusty nests we made, hope you like them.

This is my creation

This is what the rusty tin and gold sequin bird looked like before we altered them. We sprayed the bird with Glimmermist tattered leather to antique it and also to tone down the brightness of the gold. The bird quote is a darkroom door stamp.

This is Kim's creation, isn't she clever!

Antique Shop in Walcha

Hi everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I've just come back from visiting my Dad in Glen Innes and my brother in Armidale for our Christmas get togethers, they're such lovely country towns.

As usual for the last nine years we stopped at Walcha NSW for our morning cuppas on our way home, needing to stretch my legs I decided to go for a little wonder around the town and stumbled upon this fantastic antique shop, OH MY GOSH it was filled with all sorts of wonderful treasures, why haven't I seen it before?

This is what I had time to grab, trust me... I could've filled up the car!! A rusty money tin - the lovely owner told me that unfortunately you won't be able to get the rust out, 'I love the rust, rustier the better' I said LOL, she threw in the rusty tin and a few other pieces! The circus tin grabbed my attention, I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet. The little lamp is so cute isn't it, that I'm going to decorated with a few flowers I think, same with the other boxes and billy can.

This picture is only showing a third of the shop, you need at least three decent hours I reckon to hunt around properly! Oh the joy!!

Hence we will be stopping here longer from now on, much to my hubby and kids dislike. I will probably be known as the crazy lady who loves all the rusty stuff, maybe I should show them pictures on my next visit he he.

I shall be back tomorrow to show you some creations I have made, rusty ones!!

Fairyland Paperweight

Hi everyone,

This is a present I made for my friend Sherry Mendoza for Christmas, it's a little diorama of a fairy sitting in a garden. It's a one of a kind as I haven't got another container like this, I can't tell you were I got it from sorry.

It was very hard for me to give it away as I'm very critical of my creations, but I was very happy how it turned out and I knew she would appreciate it and love it, that's the thrill of giving things away isn't it!

It's not very big as you can tell by the picture with the 50c piece in it.

Oh by the way.... Sherry absolutely love it!! Yeah!!

Christmas Gifts

Hi everyone,

It's that time of year again where you run around trying to get everything done! I was up until 1am making these gifts for some lovely ladies at work. The pots are paper mache ones from Spotlight, I covered them with Echo Park Merry Christmas papers, popped a cellophane bag of lollies in them then create a tag cut from one of the papers, very easy!! But why do these ideas come to me late at night??

The ladies loved them so I'm now off to make more! I'm on holidays now so I have lots more time to create, I'm actually working on one right now for a special person, will share soon!

Altered standing mirror

Hi everyone,

While I was out shopping last weekend for Christmas presents I came across this plastic mirror for $5, what a bargain! I just had to buy it and take it home to alter . I didn't get much Christmas shopping done unfortunately as my mind was obviously elsewhere he he.

I coated the tacky silver colour with Alcohol Inks, added flowers that I bought at the Penrith Papercraft show and some of my secret stash of vintage blooms, a Crafty Secrets collage picture and ZVA rhinestone leaves. The little metal charm is Pink Paislee.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, any suggestions? Maybe I can give it away as a Christmas present LOL. I can't display it in my vintage lounge room anymore as it now houses a giant TV, oh well.

More Scrapware pieces - Chipboard

Here are some of the Scrapware chipboard pieces I did for display at the Penrith Papercraft Festival that was held at the beginning of the month.

The Canvas of my beautiful daugther 'Eliza' was embossed with American Craft 'Zing' embossing powders, all the chipboard pieces were embossed actually, the dragonfly's body and the background circle piece were stamped with a text image while the embossing powder was still hot, I used a VersaMark ink to help release the stamp after stamping it.

I coloured all the chipboard pieces on the owl card with my Copic markers, they will soak up your markers so don't do this too often, unless you have re-inkers of course he he.

Scrapware Jewellery pieces

Hi everyone,

I was very honour to have Angela from Scrapware ask me to play with some of her products and her NEW acrylic pieces.

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze on the back of the pieces, I covered the whole surface with a mix of three glazes, heated it with my heatgun until it bubbled and turned black just about, when I turned it over I was amazed to discover the stunning effect and colours that was produced, just gorgeous!

The first one, I left untouched so it looks translucent, the second and third ones I painted over the dried glaze with a silver Krylon pen, I also went around the edges. The fourth, I glued a piece of Webster's Pages paper on one side using Glossy Accents then added ZVA pearls around the edges.

I had so much fun making these and the acrylic pieces withstand the heat brilliantly! I have made many more since and given them away. I hope I explained it well, any questions just ask me :-)

Glimmermist card

Hi everyone,

It's the weekend, well it is for me he he and you know what that means - creating time Woohoo!!

Here is the card I taught last weekend at the 'Stamping and Friends' stamp camp, what a great bunch of ladies, I had so much fun and it even snow Yep in Mt Victoria NSW. I have stayed there twice now and both times it has snowed!

Anyway here is how I made the card. I cut 20 layers of old text paper into flower shapes, attached them altogether with a decorative brad and spray it with Brick Glimmermist. A good tip is to scrunch the petals up more using your fingertips when it's wet, this adds more depth to the flower. The white CD - I placed a Tattered Angels screen over it and spray it with Forest Green Glimmermist then stamped a text image over the top with StazOn timber brown. I added Tim Holtz tissue tape (love this), a ticket and some lace, how easy hey and all the ladies cards looked fantastic!!

Hope you like it, I had so much fun teaching it!!

Donna Salazar stamp

Hi again,

I was also given this delightful Donna Salazar stamp to play with, as you all should know by now... I really love images of birds, but they frighten the living daylights out of me in real life LOL.

I stamped the image on DCWV Linen Closet paper using Archival sepia ink, cut it out and layered it on more Linen Closet papers. Added a collection of trimmed flowers from one of the glittered papers, NEW Green Tara beaded flowers (soooo in love with these), Prima flower, aqua flower and another flower I made from Tim Holtz tissue tape then I added a Prima pebble in the centre of it. Oh, I also filled in gaps with Webster's Pages cream trim cut into individual pieces with a pearl in the centre.
The quote stamp is a Stampin' Up one, not sure if it's still available.

If you ever want to find out more about the cards then please just ask, I just don't want to dribble on too much he he. Isn't it a gorgeous stamp though, I can see myself using this one a lot!!

Cards using Unity Stamps for Scrapbook Royalty

Hi everyone

Well I have lots to share with you, yeah I hope I hear you say LOL!!!

I was very lucky that my friend Sherry Mendoza bought these beautiful sets of stamps home for me to play with, boy was I so excited as I just love Unity Stamps and these sets are very special. They're designed by Unity Stamp Company and Melody Ross, 100% of the proceeds is donated to Scrapbook Royalty. The funds have helped over 40 foundations so far, read all about it here on their blog.

Here are four cards that I have made so far.

One of the stamps has a lovely bird with a quote 'Life is beautiful' running down it's back. I stamped it on Webster's Pages paper using brown ink then trim them so I had two separate pieces. I layered them on more Webster's Pages papers then on folded Core'dinations card, added some lace and a Zva Creative flower.

I stamp and clear embossed the image on cream card, then sprayed a combinations of Glimmermists over the top. I placed a piece of white paper over the image, then a clean tea towel over them, I ran a hot iron over them, this made the embossing image melt into the white paper creating a faux bleach image or some called it the Faux batik technique. I used Prima butterflies to further decorate the card.

I clear embossed this image as well, sprayed the Glimmermists over the top but left it at this stage. I cut out the doily from the packaging from the Prima butterflies because I liked it LOL. Further decorarted the card with an vintage orange ribbon I had and one of the butterflies.

I love this quote 'Just be You', I stamp it on a Cosmo Cricket Pixie Licious label using green ink, Layered it on My Yellow Bicycle papers and further decorated it with Webster's Pages cream trim, flowers that Sherry gave me and a Prima flower.

Toilet roll flowers!

Hi everyone,

Yes toilet rolls, you read that right LOL. I saw these in a delightful book by Sandra Evertson called Fanciful Paper Flowers and just had to make some. They're very easy, I demonstrated them for the 'make n take' at Stampabit last Saturday.

This is how I made them, not exactly to the book though LOL.

1. Trim the rolls to 10mm in thickness
2. Colour the outside with Brilliance moonlight white ink pad.
3. Spread PVA glue on cardstock to a size just larger than the toilet roll shaped petal.
4. Dab the toilet roll petal onto the PVA glue and place it on the correct side of your pattern paper (I used Prima Annalee Poetry). Let this dry.
5. When dry trim around the petals and arrange five of them together in a flower shape.
6. Add PVA glue where the petals touch each other and allow to dry once again.
7. Further decorate the centre with a piece of pink tulle, punch text flower and a small bunch of forget-me-not flowers.

I attached a large magnet at the back of mine, but you could attach a peg to clip in onto something or even attach to a project? Even make a hanging mobile with them. Don't you just love that you can see the bar-code inside the rolls, adds a real shabby effect don't you think LOL.

Catch up time!

Hi everyone,

I'm still here and I have been creating, just can't share much on here yet LOL.

I've just came back from a lovely weekend in Melbourne with my hubby for my birthday. He booked a hotel that was nice and close to the Paperific show that was on, how sweet is that!
The rest of the time we spent shopping in the city, WOW what an inspirational place it is, I came home all inspired with lots of projects in my head to do LOL. The trip actually reminded me that I haven't shared this card that I did for my Dad's birthday with you. I saw this printed masking tape from mt deco everywhere in Melbourne, it's quite a cool product to play with, I used it as ribbon along the bottom of the card, scrunching it up creates great texture too! The stamp I used is an Art Impressions and I did the brushless water colour technique - this is where you dab your inkpads onto the rubber and then lightly spray a fine mist of water over it and stamp, I love this technique. Unfortunately it was my Dad's birthday in June and I still haven't sent the card oops!! sorry Dad XX

I plan on creating all this weekend so watch out!! LOL

I've had a busy creative month, made lots of birthdays cards and some for the magazine plus other secret special projects he he, will tell soon!

Here are two cards for the moment. As you can see I still love colouring with my Copic markers!!

One card was for my husband, that's using a Papermania stamp set and the other card I made for my son - Thomas, it's a The Greeting Farm stamp.

Metallic StazOn ink card

Hi everyone,

I saw these new StazOn metallic ink pads and just had to have them! I had a little play yesterday and came up with this card, hope you like it.
I stamped Hero Arts black and white flowers stamp on acetate using the silver metallic ink pad and wow I just love the effect. I coloured behind the images using Copic markers and layer it on an old text page using glue in inconspicuous places, decorated it further with ribbons, ZVA sweet blossom sprayed with Glimmermist vanilla breeze and a punched butterfly.

Well I'm off to try the other two colours I got - Platinun and bronze mmmm yum!

Stamping on fabric

Hello there

Okay, that's been enough of me showing my cards I made using the masking technique, this card I made to show how to stamp on fabric.

First I placed a Tattered Angels screen over my silk fabric covered card (from a wedding invitation shop, don't know which one as my friend gave it to me) and spray it with a light pink Glimmermist in the centre then a darker shade around the edge, if you would like extact colours just ask, I know I'm being lazy he he. I dried it with a heat gun then stamped a darkroom door flower from the Flower Friendship collection on it a few times using StazOn timber brown ink, the verse on the calico fabric strip is from the same set. The leaves are a clear two step stamp set from We R Memory Keepers, I used StazOn timber brown and olive green inks on calico fabric and cut them out, I arranged these on the card with a Prima Flower and some bling!

I found StazOn inks works well on fabric but there is VersaCraft (Ex fabrico) inks, these are designed to work on fabric and wash well, no I'm not going to wash my card he he. Anyway why don't you have a go!

Eliza masked card

Well I jinxed myself didn't I he he! I didn't post a card yesterday, but I did have a good excuse as it was hubbies birthday and we went out for dinner LOL.

Anyway, this is yet another card I made for the convention to show the great effects of masking. I stamped the letter 'e' then made a mask for it then stamped the letter 'l' and made a mask for that, so on and so on until I had spelled 'Eliza' and it was all masked, I used VersaMagic red ink. I then stamped an American craft rose image over the top in a few areas with my Archival Ink sepia, I love this rose image as it looks good even without having to colour it. The other good thing about this card is that Eliza's birthday isn't until August, yeehaa I'm early for once LOL.

Deer masked card

Wow three days of posting in a row woohoo!

Okay, this is another masked card I did for the Convention. I've used a Hero Arts deer stamp, isn't it so cute!!. I stamped the deer on cream card, covered it with a mask then stamp the deer again over the top, I repeated this twice more (four deers in total) to create a herd of deers! I sprayed green Glimmermist onto a tree Glimmer screen and place this over the top of the masked deers, it's a great way to use your screens (as a stamp). I trimmed around the top of the herd and inserted a journalling tag then added words.
Why not have a go yourself and turn a single stamp into a group of them, it's cool don't you think!

Masked vintage card

This is another card I made using the masking technique. First I stamped Inkadinkado 'Smiling right back at you' on light coloured pattern paper using dark brown ink, covered this with a mask then stamped Tim Holtz damask over the top with green ink, then I masked this and finally stamped over these with Stampmania text stamp a couple of times with light brown ink. I layered the image on a cream doily, I just love doilies, you probably know that by now he he. The flower trim is Webster's Pages Bloomer trim in green, I absolutely love this too!

Cards I made for the Brisbane Papercraft Convention 2010

Hi everyone,

Well I've been very busy lately, but life should calm down a bit now and I'll be able to share more of my creations with you. Last weekend I was teaching at the Brisbane Papercraft Convention, what a thrill that was, to be asked in the first place and then to teach such lovely ladies!

I also got the chance to do two Studio Talks. One was 'Stamping on different mediums' such as fabric and acetate, I actually had to demonstrate this using one hand as the other was holding the microphone. I did very well I must say, no images were smudged he he!! The other technique was Masking and the last was different ways to jazz up your chipboard!

I thought I would share one of my cards each day for the next week or so, just to keep you inspired (hopefully!).

Masking has been around for many years and it's one of those stamping techniques that you forget about. But since there are new stamps and other items on the market I thought I would have a play again. I had so much fun, why don't you give it a try. You simply stamp your selected image on your card then again on scrap paper, cut out the scrap image inside the lines then attach this over your original one using re-positional tape. If you would like step by steps let me know and I'll post them for you.

In this card I used the little boy from October Afternoon Fly A Kite collection, made a mask for him then stamped Rubberdabbado A113WC Trees over the top, finally I applied an October Afternoon Fly A Kite rub-on over the top to finish!

Shading with Copics

Hi everyone,

Well I did promise this card last week, but with organising a Stamp Camp, shop, work and organising classes I was just a little bit busy, sorry.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this card with you. I created shadows by shading over the pattern paper using my B60 Pale Blue Grey Ciao Copic, this is a great way to create more depth to your images. Be careful as the paper can soak up your Copics!

The stamp is Inky Antics P5-10055-K and I used My Mind Eye paper. I also cut a piece of the Prima packing from the Debutantes lovely lilac flowers that had the word 'Courage' on it, I coloured it with a purple copic Marker. Being Alcohol based markers they dry quickly and it's a great way to add colour.
I added three-dimensional medium (glossy accents) to create raindrops over the image and then added kindyglitz crystalina to the flowers for more pizazz.

Sorry there are no images, this card is being published in Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine Vol 16 No 9, very exciting!!!!

Altered handbag using alcohol inks!

My Dad gave me this little handbag in a box of goodies that he collected for me, it had broken jewellery, chains and all sorts of bits and pieces that will be popping up on here from time to time.

This handbag is made from plastic and is probably from a $2 shop but I had an idea for it!! I covered the gold colour using Ranger Alcohol Inks - Espresso, butterscotch and currant, then used October Afternoon stickers, Webster's page bloomer trim (my favourite at the moment!), Prima flowers and a few other little embellishments.

Why I love all things old!

I went and visited my Dad last weekend in Glen Innes NSW, while I sat in his sitting room it suddenly came to me why I like old items - his place is full of them and I just love them all!! Dads place is like walking into a second hand antique shop, filled with wonderful, quirky nicnaks everywhere!! He really loves the colour red and has two of these stunning red chandeliers in his sitting room, most of the items in that room are red, it's such a happy colour. I thought I would share some photos with you which have sparked inspiration in me. I'm going to make a mini album for Dad with pictures of these wonderful pieces in it, maybe I should make one for me too!!

Copic Markers and building up layers.

Hi again,

I won't have time to play this weekend as I'm going to visit my Dad in Glen Innes which is about a 7 hour drive. So I thought I would share another Copic card before I go. I've been playing and playing and just love them!!

In this card I kept building up the layers using the same marker, I found the B60 Pale Blue Grey to be a great background colour to give depth. If you can enlarge the picture you should be able to see how I shaded it darker at the bottom, I kept going over it ensuring that I had scrap paper underneath to blot the ink, so it wouldn't spread out on my image. I found this marker to be great as I could easily go over the roses without them changing colour. I completely coloured the sitting bench with E37 and created a distress worn look by lightly applying the colourless blender in the highlighted areas, let it dry and it will fade it for you, fantastic!

Another thing, I find it very helpful to look at real life pictures in magazines to see where the shades are and where shadows fall.

I promise I will have more in-depth pictures next time with steps, I'm just a bit rushed at the moment packing to go away.

Experiment with your Copics and have fun!

The stamp is an old PSX K-1792, the papers and clearly yours stickers are from K&Company serendipity collection.

Hopefully in Glen Innes I'll have time to stop at some of my favourite op shops, if I do I'm sure to share my goodies with you, in pics of course LOL.

Copic Certified and some cards!

Last week I took the Copic Certification course in Sydney, taught by Marianne Walker and Lori Craig. I had so much fun learning all about the Copic markers, I love, love, love them! Now I'm Copic Certified and I will be sharing my cards and techniques using them. Let me know if you would like to attend a class or have me demonstrate at your store.

Prima rusty teacup!

Hi everyone,

I went shopping at Fred The Needle in Penrith on Friday and spotted this rusty wire teacup (undecorated I should say, someone asked me if it came like this he he, no but I might make you one) . So it was love at first sight - I just had to have it and other goodies of course!

There are a lots of things I should be creating at the moment like - stuff for the magazine and for my classes, but I just had to get this idea out of my head!! It used a whole ball of green twine, but it's worth it don't you think he he.

I used Prima Raspberry Chic lily chopsticks and Shabby Chic morning poetry papers plus their flowers. Now, I'm no bird expert so the name 'The Black Redstart' is just what I liked the sound of, it's from a book titled Birds, Eggs and Nests.

Anyway I hope you like it, please leave a comment if you do, as I love reading them.

I have been creating but unfortunately I can't share it as it's for the magazine, you'll see it in three months LOL. But... I'm having a creative weekend and ideas are flooding my brain, yes I have one!! So stay tuned.

I've been in Brisbane again, this time at the Print Blocks 'Creative Block', what a fantastic event, I met so many lovely people and made so much!! The classes were awesome and the kits were unbelievable, just need to finish them LOL. I've also discovered that I'm not a very good student as I talk too much in class and don't pay attention, Oops!

Vintage wares from Garage Sale!

Hi everyone,

My family and I had a lovely time at Shellharbour over the Easter break, it's such a relaxing and friendly place. I managed to go to some garage sales on Saturday and gathered some goodies, well you might think I'm mad but my brain was filling up with ideas when I saw these bits and pieces.

A box full of old ribbons for $5 the box- paper, plastic coated, printed and fabric, they're all so yummy and have fabulous old ages spots and stains on them!

I think I might alter this weather station, but I may check out how old it is first, I don't want to alter something if it's very old, what do you think? I just thought it was cute and it was only 50cents.

I saw an old wedding cake decoration similar to this one on someones blog not so long ago and thought how beautiful it was, so how lucky am I to get one! The flowers are made from wax, it's has stains and aged spots as well and I just love it. There were two little gold baskets that came with it that have cream mesh and fabric flowers on them, oh the ideas and all for 50cents as well!!

I think I may place a family vintage photo behind the cake decoration and add a beautiful verse, that might be my project for this weekend so stay tuned!

Some cards to share

Hi everyone,

Well I've just come back from the Craft Expo in Brisbane, helped the lovely Hetty Hall with her gorgeous classes and I actually ended up teaching a quick class as well, so exciting. I just loved meeting everyone and putting names to faces, so much fun! I'll share some photos soon.

I'm off to Shellharbour for the Easter Break with the family, no cardmaking just pure relaxation - sitting on the beach, drinking a glass of wine and enjoying the company of wonderful friends, arrr doesn't that sound nice!

Anyway.... just to keep you going LOL, here are a few cards I made over the last couple of weeks. I will be having withdrawals over the next five days I'm sure!

This card I used Prima flower sprig, Jenni Bowlin buttons, collection butterfly and Webster's Pages 6in paper. The other bits and pieces were given to me by Sherry Mendoza with the instructions to make something with them, and so I did LOL

Sorry there is no picture of this card as it's being published, Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine Vol 16 No 10. Yeah!!!

This is a cool technique called Faux Tiling, I adapted it a little, it's embossing card through the cuttlebug, swiping sepia ink over the top, coat with cream paint, sand then clear emboss it. I will share some steps I think, much better way to explain it (soon). The effect looks similar to distressed tiles. The stamp is from Inkadinkado set called Best Friends, Love is cut from my Cricut machine and I used Webster's Pages trim.

This is another card with a different Faux Tiling technique, it's very easy and effective, yes I said I would share LOL! Next post okay. The stamp is Stamping Bella, I just love these style of stamps, so cute.

This is another card that Sherry gave me a few piece and told me to make a card, I always love a challenge!! I managed to make six cards that night, woohoo!

Another card made by bits and pieces thrown to me by Sherry LOL, the ribbon, Maya Road plastic journal, Collections butterfly, just added a few more things and viola!

Well I hope these cards have inspired you to use up your bits and pieces that you have lying around!! I certainly had fun and can't wait until Sherry throws some more my way!!

My Autumn Copper Shim Canvas

Hi everyone,

Well today I felt like playing with Copper Shim, I haven't play with this for years!

I place an adhesive chipboard tree onto thick cardboard then attached the copper shim over the top using Pritt glue, then I used my stylist tool to outline the tree, zapped it with my heat gun to bring out all the gorgeous Autumn colours!

I created a texture on a 8in square canvas using Gesso and paint. Decorated my copper shim piece with coloured gauze, doilies, Prima leaves and bits of broken jewellery. I used a darkroom doors sentiment from the Trees set on twill using Archival sepia ink.

This is a piece that I will be hanging in my house I think!

I have a lot more to share in the next few days as I had a lovely play day at my friends house and made six cards!!

Playing with Motivet Rubber Stamps

Hi everyone,

I just love these cute Motivet stamps and lucky for me I had a little play with them today! I can only share one card with you at the moment, but there will be more to share soon!

For this card, stamped it on light cream card using Archival Sepia ink and coloured it with watercolour pencils, then clear emboss the whole thing to give it a more vintage feel. Other items I used are Prima journal panel, flowers; Sassafras Lass paper, text paper, lace motif, old diamante necklace and a button.

These delightful stamps are available from Lime Tart. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway I just love the goodies this store has to offer!

Playing with new Prima flowers!!

Well I just love all the new Prima flowers and stamps. I had a little play with some of my new stuff today, hope you like it.
I used Debutantes creme bunch and the Nature Walk stamps, I even used the packaging it come with, it has words printed on heavy acetate in white.

Cute Motivet Digi image!

Hi everyone,

Well I saw this cute little kitten on Lime Tarts zest blog and I just had to have a play with it, I've never made a card using a digi image before. I printed it on Bazzill vanilla card and white paper, cut the paper image out and glued it over the top so that I had a white kitten. It's framed with a raw Maya Road chipboard frame, layered on an old doily and embellished further with Prima vines, Making Memories mistletoe glitter branch and an old brooch that the centre fell out of, I replaced it with a word and applied glossy accents over the top.

Delivery of doilies!

Hi everyone,

Why is it that you start to get creative at the end of the weekend? My eldest brother and his wife turned up for morning tea today and bought a bag of goodies for me - doilies! lots of them, stained, tattered and just gorgeous!!

I decided to use this doily as it had a slightly gathered effect. I had the frame lying around just waiting for the right project, it had a dried flower arrangement in it, so I turned it over to take that out and thought "Oh I like the back of the frame much better he he!' It's great don't you think? I used some vintage flowers I had, a beautiful photo of my Mother when she was 7 years of age and a pearl bracelet. I think I will give this to my brother who delivered my bag of goodies!!

Silhouette page from an old book.

Hi everyone,

I was looking through an old book I had and found this beautiful page with the silhouette picture on it, isn't it gorgeous! I sprayed it with Glimmermist, unfortunately you can't see the glimmer but it's there LOL. I then layered it on old sheet music and a scrap of lace then finally on a book cover. I folded the spine of the book to encase my chain so I can hang it.

The silver leaf is a Making Memories mistletoe piece (love these and have none left boohoo) the flower is Prima and the rest are old buttons, jewelery, white leaves and a handmade flower from Sherry.

I 'll have to start finding places in my old fashioned loungeroom for all these pieces or start giving them away!!

Eliza's shadow box frame

Hi everyone,

In this post I'm sharing a piece I made that's a bit less vintage. I went to a TwiddleyBitz class taught by the Team Co-ordinator Sherry Mendoza. It was suppose to be a Christmas theme but I changed it he he.

I decorated it with these gorgeous flowers that I purchased from an op shop ages ago, I've just been waiting to use them on the right project. The TwiddleyBitz floating frames are easy to put together and I just love the floating perspex panel in the centre. I'm not much of a scapper but Sherry helped me, thanks Sherry!! XX

This is my little girl 'Eliza' she was seven, she made such a pretty ballerina, you wonder where the years go!

Using my leftovers!!

Hi everyone,

Well I'm back at work tomorrow so my creating will slow down. I've had so much fun making stuff lately and I feel great to have gotten a few ideas out of my head!! I love my job so I don't mind going back as I get to see beautiful creations everyday and to be in awe of those you created them.

Today I was making a few things for work and then decided to make this card and to decorated this little bottle ( left over from NYE, it contained a mixer for a cocktail he he) with the left over materials. This year I'm trying to make a few cards with the bits and pieces left in front of me and try to get ahead with birthday cards, fingers crossed!!

By the way - during the week I will be having my first BLOG GIVEAWAY!! Don't miss it.

I used Bella Sarah Jane papers and distress one of the matching butterflies, added lace, music paper, string etc. I just love core'dination cardstock as you can continue the distressed feel by sanding it and revealing the inner core colour.

Decorated frame with a picture of my Grandmother.

I love this photo of my Grandmother, never got to meet her but she's gorgeous. Her name was Adelaide Melbourne Bell, how's that for a name!

I had the frame at home, the dress is a Green Tara wedding embroidered handkerchief sprayed with Glimmermists vanilla mist and pink taffy along the botton. I sprayed walnut stain over the top and added more lace, diamantes, pearls and a flower. The other flowers around the frame are Prima of course (I love these) and I also added Making Memories glitter mistletoe and an old diamantes necklace that was broken!

More creations - I love being on holidays!!

I had three of these wooden birdhouses which I picked up at a second hand shop a couple of years ago and I've been waiting and waiting to play with them. Well, yesterday I finally had the time and decided to give one of them a make-over!! I gave the other two birdhouses to my friends Kim and Sherry as they're talented ladies and will make their own masterpieces and they did! I can't share you theirs but here's what I did. I had so much fun.

Here is a little brooch I also made using an old locket, I glued a picture on top, added a sequin flower earring then back it all onto a little doily and added pearl drops at the bottom.

Time to share some creations

Recently I had a day of creating whatever I liked and these are a few items I came up with. I am partial to vintage things and I have quite a collection of goodies at home, from jewelery, laces, ribbons, old rusty items etc.

Sorry about the photos quality, I will have to learn how to edit them a bit better, I'm computer eliterate I think!!

This is a bracelet I made using an assortment of charms and attched them to a Men's shirt band.

This is a shadow box I made from an ordinary glossy white boxed frame. The distressed look is from a mistake I made, I didn't like what I had coated it with and decided to scrap it away and this was the result, don't think I would be able to replicate it!!

I've seen a few old books lately that have had the centre of the pages cut away and objects placed inside, so I thought I would have a go. The chipboard is from TwiddleyBitz and I coated them with Mica Flakes for a vintage feel. The centre of the flower is a clip-on earring, I love using all these sorts of pieces.

I have a box of old rusty bits and pieces and half of the items in there I have no idea what they are LOL. I loved the shape of this silver drop shape, just backed it with text paper added a picture and wrapped some vintage ribbon around it. I have no idea what I'll do with it but it looks pretty he he.

Well I hope you like my creations, I'm having a play day tomorrow with some friends so I'm sure I'll have some more to share and a giveaway!!

Tomorrow I shall be posting my first official entry by sharing some creations I have made in the last few days. They're very old fashioned for me but I have had so much fun creating, even jewelery!
